My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I’m Remy! I came to Fancy Cats along with my 4 siblings in October. I am a tan and orange swirled tabby, but you can’t find another cat that looks like me. My body is mostly tan with light orange swirls and stripes. The stripes on my legs are dark orange. I have 1 black whisker over each eye and 1 black whisker on each side of my mouth. The rest of my whiskers are white. The tan on my feet is slightly gray and it makes them look dusty and dirty, but I have the sweetest pink toe beans. I also have a cowlick on the back of my neck. Unique right?

I have lots of love and a BIG purr. I am great at snuggling and will rub all over everyone! When everyone is busy, I like to sleep at the top of the cat tree. If the top is occupied, I’ll just take the next level below. I’m easy-going like that.

I loved to romp and play with my siblings, but they have found their forever homes. Teasers and toys are great too. My favorite toys are balls that crinkle or have bells. I like to carry them off like a great prize.

I LOVE the 2 large dogs at my foster home (a black lab mix and a husky shepherd mix). I love to rub all over them, especially their faces. They are very patient with me.  Sometimes I can get the black dog to play with me. He lays down and mostly nudges me with his big snout. Then, I roll around and back to him. I also like to be around other cats. My foster family has 2 adult males. I enjoy being around them and sometimes we clean each other's faces :)

I am quite curious. I LOVE when my foster mom does the laundry. When I hear her going to the laundry room, I run to find her and watch what she is doing from the top of a hamper. I also like to sit at a door or window and watch the world. I am also cautious. Big noises or being lifted high makes me nervous. When I am around confident cats it helps.

Please ask to meet me! I can’t wait to find my forever family! I am currently staying in Leesburg with my foster family. There are four humans. Two are big and two are small (aged 8 and 10). I’ve been around kids, cats and dogs for most of my life so I am used to a busy home.

Please note that it is Fancy Cats’ policy that kittens have an age-appropriate playmate in the home. We also do not adopt kittens to families with children under six years old without seeing appropriate history/experience with cats.

Adoption fee: $200, includes all shots, sterilized, dewormed, deflea, microchip

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like bridges between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats and dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please visit: https://fancycats.org/volunteer

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adopters fill out an application that screens for problems that may be detrimental to our cats and kittens. Once the adopter is approved we provide veterinary referrals which help with low cost spays or neuters for the kittens that are too young at the time of adoption. We are always available to help with behavioral issues that arise. We provide numerous information sheets in our adoption folders, plus the medical background of each cat. The only fees involved with our program are adoption fees that offset our veterinary bills.

More about this rescue

Fancy Cats Rescue Team was founded to provide the community a "safety net" for cats and kittens that are abused and abandoned, or added to the euthanasia list at the shelters that we are currently participating with. We are a 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit Organization and participate with the United Way/CFC #8929. The goal is to have no kill shelters in place. Education and responsible pet ownership are the foundation of our organization. Our program provides literature, counseling, referral services and educational resources to families and individuals needing guidance. Teaching people responsible pet guardianship by spay and neutering their pets, behavioral modification and health concerns. We also provide a mentoring environment for our youth volunteers where they can learn the rewards of community service while caring for animals that need their gentle, loving kindness. They also interact with the community providing self-confidence and the ability to interact with a variety of cultures and diverse backgrounds. Once an animal is received into our program, they remain with us until a safe, appropriate home is found. They are never euthanized based on their age or space limitations. They are given appropriate medical care, immunizations, spays or neuters and endless hours of tender, loving care. We are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. We are funded by community donations, 91% goes toward the care and well being of our animals. Our adoption fees help offset our veterinary bills.
