My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Petey, our poised, perfect and pink-nosed pal!

The spitting image of Pete the Pup, Petey is a true people-lover! With his soft nose, sweet face and adorable eyepatch, he’s an absolute heart stealer! He is ready to find a home of his own where he can bring adoration and excitement to his new family. His enthusiasm is infectious, and his playful passion for toys and treats makes him easy to please and a breeze to hang out with.

Petey is always ready for a fun day filled with playtime and snacks – especially his favorite treat, cheese! While out on walks, he has impressive leash manners, even amidst the sights and sounds of the big city. He will surely be a wonderful adventure buddy! After Petey burns some energy from playing and hanging out with his friends, he is ready to curl up by your side as the most affectionate love bug you could ask for.

  • Petey would thrive with an active adopter who can keep him busy with fun and exercise.
  • Petey is reported to be housetrained. An Admissions and Placement Specialist can give you tips to help set him up for housetraining success.

**The ASPCA is committed to prioritizing the health and safety of the community, the animals in our care and our staff, and we are keeping a close eye on developments related to the COVID-19 crisis as they evolve. As such, the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City is currently closed for in-person visitors. However, we are excited to offer remote adoptions using video conferencing! In-person meet-and-greets are also sometimes available or required for specific animals. Please check out our available cats and dogs above, and if one catches your eye, apply directly for him or her. An ASPCA Matchmaker will let you know if the animal you are interested in adopting is eligible for or requires an in-person meet-and-greet.

Please note: Adoption applications are handled in the order they are received and submitting an adoption survey does not constitute a hold or guaranteed adoption. You can expect to receive automated emails updating you on your adoption status as our Matchmakers go through applications. Thank you for your patience, and we hope you find your match!**

More about this shelter

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. Our organization was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend our anti-cruelty mission across the country, we are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. We are a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and proud to boast more than 1 million supporters across the country.
