My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Coralville, IA
DOB: 09/19/2019

Meet Everest, a resilient 6-year-old Dane x Pointer mix who has faced many challenges in his life. When he was taken in, he had an extremely low body score, worn-down teeth, and severe heartworms that prevent him from being neutered just yet. It’s hard to imagine what Everest endured in Texas, where the number of strays often exceeds the capacity of shelters. Whether he was on the streets for a long time or had neglectful owners, his past is a mystery.

But let’s focus on the positive! Everest’s personality is unmatched. He’s a complete goofball who treats everyone like family. Dogs and kids are a big YES in Everest’s book. However, he’s a bit too interested in cats, so a cat-free home is best for him.

Everest is adaptable and can be brought to work, boarding, or the groomers with zero issues. He’s just happy to be around loving humans. When a new person comes into the office, he pops his head out from behind the baby gate and gives you tail wags and puppy eyes until you pet him. While he needs some help with leash manners and basic obedience, he is a quick learner.

Everest is looking for a loving home where he can continue to thrive and bring joy to his new family. If you’re ready to welcome a loyal and goofy companion into your life, Everest is the perfect match.

All of our Great Danes are altered, if medically possible, fully vetted, micro-chipped, and on heartworm prevention or treatment prior to being adopted. Thank you for considering adopting a rescue dog, you're saving a life when you adopt.

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
