My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hurley! Hurley is a 4 year old German Shepherd, searching for her forever home.
Hurley is an affectionate, shy, and playful girl. It takes her a little while to warm up to strangers, but once she does, her personality comes to life. She LOVES to play with toys, go for walks, and romp around the yard! Hurley is leash trained, knows her basic commands very well, and is a very quick learner when it comes to new skills and tricks. She has very good recall, and generally does not stray far when off-leash.
As a very active and athletic breed, the German Shepherd requires lots of exercise for optimal physical and mental well-being. A dog who is not exercised enough will become frustrated and likely to develop undesirable behaviors. For grooming, GSD's require brushing every few days, and will shed large amounts of hair several times a year.
When Hurley came to us, she didn't have very diverse life experience. Since being in care, she has come a long way in working through some anxiety and fearfulness. In a new environment, with unfamiliar people, Hurley may become nervous and apprehensive. Because of her high levels of anxiety, she has been on anxiety medication that should be continued while she adjusts to a new home. It is unlikely she will need to stay on this medication long-term. Hurley has an allergy condition that she is being treated for, and she may require ongoing medication to manage symptoms.
In Hurley's ideal home, she would not be left alone for long periods of time. She would thrive with her own safe yard to play in and explore. She would be OK with dog savvy kids, but can get jumpy when she is excited. Ideally, there would not be a lot of new guests coming and going.

**Hurley has some ongoing medical issues, including a pending dental surgery. While she is awaiting medical clearance, she is not quite ready for adoption, but she IS available for Foster-To-Adopt!**
