My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gomez! Gomez is a 1 year old English Mastiff mix, searching for his forever home.
Gomez is a sweet, friendly, sensitive boy, who loves to cuddle, lay around, and explore outdoors. He doesn't have a ton of confidence, so he's still learning how to navigate the world around him. Gomez loves to be right by your side, and is eager to make friends with everyone he meets.
As a Mastiff mix, Gomez would benefit physically and psychologically from free play and daily walks. However, owners must be careful not to overtax young adults: Don't allow them to run up and down stairs, jump from heights, or engage in long walks.
Gomez's ideal home would give him lots of outdoor access, potentially another doggie friend, and TONS of cuddles and companionship. A perfect home for Gomez would have minimal stairs, and a fair bit of space for him to move around and feel comfortable.
If you think Gomez could be a good fit for you, please fill out an application below.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
