Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
The adoption fee for any animal from the Mayfield / Graves County Animal Shelter ranges from $110 to $200. We make every effort to insure that the animals leaving our shelter to join a new family are as healthy as possible. All of our dogs are up to date on shots, have been dewormed, have been heartworm tested if they are old enough and are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. All of our cats are also up to date on shots, have been tested for feline leukemia and FIV (if 6 months or older), and are spayed or neutered prior to going to their new home. We hope that the pets adopted from our shelter will live healthy lives and provide many years of pleasure and companionship for their new owners.

More about this shelter
We are often asked if we are a no-kill shelter. The answer is always, "No, but we would love to be". Unfortunately, the reality in Mayfield and Graves County is that the overwhelming number of animals coming into our shelter (over 2,500 a year) forces us to euthanize healthy animals every week. Until the number of animals brought into the shelter is drastically reduced, we have no other option.
We care deeply for our homeless animals and we do grieve, very deeply, the death of every one that is euthanized because space becomes an issue before a responsible, loving home or rescue can be found.
If you are considering a pet for your family, please check out the available animals at the shelter. If you are the owner of a cat or dog, please consider having it spayed or neutered. If we all work together to be responsible pet owners, the time will come when our shelter will no longer have to euthanize animals and we will be able to find a loving home for every animal that comes into our care.
Our prayer is that our community can unite to stop this tragic end of innocent lives.
