Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Let me introduce you to a sweet senior girl I have named Gloria. She was picked up as a stray on 10/30 by one of our officers and brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter. Gloria weighs 53 pounds and is about 8 years old. My Dog Scanner app suggests the following breeds in her mix: Belgian Shepherd, Black Mouth Cur, and Austrian Pinscher. I`m trying to imagine what is going through her head as she lays in her kennel. She may have been the pet of some family for all 8 years of her life and yet here she is in a strange place, confined to a kennel with dogs barking all around her. She`s had a name for 8 years and now she has been given and is being called by an unfamiliar one. Her people have not come to reclaim. She`s doubtless uneasy and confused. Now my impressions of Gloria. She has a chill personality and is calm and gentle. She is friendly and ok with the loving attention I gave her. She will sit for treats and takes them politely. She is well-behaved. Gloria loved being in the yard and explored to her heart`s content during her photo session. She walked well on a leash. Yes, she is one special girl waiting for her people to pick her up and take her home but is willing to become a part of a new family if need be. She appears to have been fairly well-cared for. She wants to live inside in order to be an integral part of the family circle. She doesn`t want to live outside--no how, no way.
