Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mellie is a 1 1/2 years old. The sweetest girl, very affectionate. She often puts her paw or nose on you when she wants attention.
Finders found Mellie at 3 months old, she was abandoned on the side of the road with her 2 sisters, they got adopted and finder kept Mellie.
Finder hoped she would do well on the hobby farm, but she chased the chickens and ducks. Mellie does get along with the two senior dogs and loves company.
She has mainly been outside; she was inside more as a puppy but does great outside and is often hanging out on our covered porch with the cats or off rolling in the grass!
She does well with kids, has been around kids under 5 since she was a puppy. She's always been watchful of children and any time owner's daughter is outside, Mellie is often by her side.
She is not used to being in a kennel, but a smaller room would help her adjust at night.
Mellie also does okay on leash, and will sit, and stop when asked, finder says she is very smart and with a committed owner she will learn quickly.
She does get very excited when finder comes home and always looks for a treat as her greeting.
Mellie likes to approach you first, if you stay where you are and call Mellie, she comes up but if you dart/try to walk up to her she will often run off.
Mellie will bark and let you know if someone comes up the driveway or stops by, she's never been aggressive to people, sometimes she's more cautious around men.
Mellie is truly a sweet girl who loves attention and also her own space to run around, she likes people and other pets for company.
The only reasons owners have not been able to commit to keeping Mellie is because she chases their chickens. In addition, owner had unexpected health issues, and changes in schedule that do not permit her to travel. Owner surrendered her because she is not home enough to spend the time with Mellie that she deserves!
