My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mila: A Sweetheart Ready to Be Your Forever Friend

Mila is a bundle of love packed into a petite, 45-pound pittie mix body. At around six years old, Mila is past the puppy stage but still full of life and charm. This girl’s ideal day? Belly rubs, a tasty cheese treat (her absolute favorite!), and some quality time with her people on the couch—she’s a certified snuggle expert. Mila greets everyone she meets with wiggles and kisses, eager to share her affection with the world.

Found alone in an abandoned house, Mila’s past remains a mystery, but her heart is wide open to the future. She’s well-mannered in the home, is house trained, and has already learned a few fun tricks like “sit” and “paw”—she’s eager to please, especially when treats are involved! Mila also walks well on a leash and loves the outdoors. We’re even working on her fetch game; she’s excited to chase the ball and bring it back like a pro.

We recommend a home with no other pets as this cuddle queen is happiest as your one and only fur companion, where she can soak up all the love and attention. She’s comfortable in her crate when needed and is calm and trustworthy when left out on her own. And Mila’s not one to fuss—she’s a total trooper for bath time, even though she'd probably rather be back by your side for cuddles.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who’ll be your couch buddy and walking partner, Mila is the perfect match. She’s ready to fill your home with wiggles, kisses, and endless love.

She is being fostered in Newton, New Jersey, but once you are approved to adopt with Familiar Hearts, a meeting can most likely be coordinated at a half way point.

Go meet their pets

At this time, Familiar Hearts Animal Society meetings are by appointment only.

We currently rely on our amazing web of generous fosters throughout the Philadelphia area and will do our best to make a meeting as convenient as possible for both human + animal.

Meetings will need to be coordinated through the foster of the animal you are interested in meeting.

More about this rescue

Mission Statement: To end the unnecessary suffering of homeless companion animals by serving as a refuge and enabling humans to provide them quality and compassionate homes.

Our Vision: Our mission is two-fold; we want to help abandoned pets and we want to help stop pet abandonment.

We operate using a network of kind hearted hands to help find homeless animals veterinary and behavior care and then match them with appropriate forever homes. We also strive to educate pet owners about resources they might utilize in order to best understand how to provide for their friends with furry paws, feathers or claws. We always do our best to help.
