My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A PRECIOUS & ADORABLE PUP:  Approx. 6 - 7 months old / Approx. 32 lbs. & growing

Hi, my name is Doc!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am warming the hearts of the volunteers who care for me at the shelter.  Shortly after my rescue, they discovered that I was born with Legg-Perthes Disease, and I needed double FHO surgery.  Thankfully, I’ve had the surgery and am now in the recovery and physical therapy healing process.  I can still be adopted during this time and MM will go over my care with my new family as well as pay for the already scheduled PT and follow-ups.  I can’t wait to bring lots of puppy love to my new home and start living a good life!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over or that may fall on me while I’m healing.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a very sweet and happy puppy who has the most precious facial expressions – sure to charm you as much as I have the MM volunteers.  I’m fairly calm for a puppy, though also playful, fun and a little puppy mouthy since my movement is restricted right now and I’m a bit bored with my rest and recovery period – I look forward to being a puppy again and doing fun puppy things!  I sat perfectly for my shelter bath when I was rescued – lifting my paws perfectly for rinsing – good boy!  I am as friendly and playful as I am adorable. / My energy level is 5-7 though this could change once I’m fully recovered from my surgery and as I grow up.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a smart puppy who will be ready to learn once I’m released from restricted movement. I learned the ‘sit’ command before my surgery but then my training took a back seat to healing and recovery.  I bet you can teach me a lot so I can grow into a great adult dog. / I’m doing well in my little room at Mostly Mutts. / I've been having a couple of accidents on the shelter schedule, which is to be expected due to my circumstances, so once I’m all healed up, I may need a refresher in the potty department so keep me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love being with people and my fun nature makes me a great furry playmate, though I am still recovering from my surgery, so our playtimes right now will look something like you holding my bone so I can chew on it or playing with toys while sitting together! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training as I grow up.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I’m currently on sling walks for potty breaks for now and twice a day range of motion exercises as well as twice a week PT at the vets. My care is a two-person job right now, but it won’t last forever – just ask how everything is going and where I am in my recovery if you think I’d make a nice addition to your family.

I am looking for a wonderful and loving home with a great family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.

Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
