My foster writes: Anubis is a sweet, curious 3 year old boy who loves affection, play, and cuddles. Shelter life left him a bit fearful and uncertain, but with a little love and time, his personality has flourished in a home environment. He's come out of his shell and has transformed into a playful, lovable companion with a big heart. Anubis loves head bumps, playing with his toys, and chasing his tail. He can be quite the chatterbox when he's hungry-especially when Churu treats are involved. After acclimating to our home, he's shown to warm up quite quickly to new people; once he knows you're a friend, he will happily curl up in your lap for some head and cheek scratches-Anubis is a big guy, but all heart. He is sure to thrive in an environment where he will have play time and cuddle time. Anubis is ready to share his warmth and fun with a family who will appreciate both his affectionate and playful side. Don't miss the chance to give this loving boy the forever home he deserves!
What my friends at ACC say about me:
I am looking for a home with a patient person.
I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.
I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.
I would do best in a home without very tiny humans.
Anubis tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to the behavior shown, he may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with younger children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.
A volunteer writes: What's your favorite superpower? A view into the future? An invisible blanket? Or a heart protector? For Anubis I imagine it might be a combination of the three. This isn't Anubis's first time with us at the shelter and even though he's been here before, it's not where he wants to be. When I first met Anubis, he was stretched out and pretending to sleep on top of his cubby. I know that an invisible blanket probably would've come in handy for him here, but as an alternative I just respected his request. All these recent changes have been a bit much for Anubis. He's got a great, big gentle heart that all we want to do is protect, so I guess that would be my superpower. And even though Anubis could use a hand in learning how to put himself out there and make new friends, we also know that our best looks different everyday. Anyway, I think the superpower Anubis and I would be inclined to agree on is a view into the future. We just can't wait for the day that you come in and give this wonderful guy a chance at love.
