I was very hungry, so I kept showing up to eat dry food on the deck of a townhome in NE Rochester, I dug right in! But when I saw a woman watching me from the window, I would run away! Sometimes she would even be on the deck filling the bowl, and I would wait in the distance until she went inside before I approached. One day there was no food in the bowl, but there was some smelly fishy stuff in a box. I crept inside. Oh, NO! the box slammed shut! I was trapped! But I was so hungry that I ate all the fish anyway! It was good! Then two women put me in a car and brought me here to the shelter! Four ladies sat around and talked about me and got me out of the trap. They checked me for a microchip. No chip. I was very scared, but one of the women held me close, and I felt safe. I’m a sweet, brown tabby young adult female. They named me Sugar because I am so sweet. Once I feel comfortable around someone, I like being petted. If you’re quiet and gentle, I do enjoy being held. I played a little, too, after I’d been in the shelter for a few hours. Now that I’m safe indoors with a cozy place to sleep, regular meals and fresh water, I feel more comfortable than I have in quite a while. If you’re a patient person who is willing to let me settle in to a new living situation, I’d like to be your Sugar girl.
Sugar can be viewed at Chuck & Don`s Pet Food & Supplies in Barlow Plaza, Rochester.
Adoption fee $100 + microchip fee $30 + tax

Paws and Claws Humane Society (PCHS) is a non-profit, mostly volunteer organization that rescues and shelters homeless cats and dogs until they can be adopted into their “forever” homes. We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.
All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs.
After submitting an application, there is generally a processing period of 1-3 days in order to complete all pre-adoption checks and paperwork before an adopter may take possession of the animal.
