My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shrimp and Oyster: the ultimate cuddle duo! These fluffy siblings may look alike, but they’re each uniquely charming. With tails like little raccoons and distinct head markings—Shrimp has a dainty triangle, while Oyster’s is more of a rectangle—you’ll have no trouble telling them apart.

Oyster, the bigger brother, can be slightly reserved when meeting new people, but his heart opens wide once he feels comfortable (treats help!). Expect him to be your loyal work buddy, lounging nearby or curling up in your lap with an instant purr. He loves to sunbathe by the window and is the kind of guy who’ll drop everything for a good head scratch whenever you call his name.

Shrimp is the smaller of the two, but her personality shines bright. She’ll charm you with her soft little meow and her adorable habit of flopping down for pets the moment you make eye contact. A snack enthusiast, the way to her heart is through treats!

Together, Shrimp and Oyster are playful, affectionate, and quick to bond with their humans. Within a week, they’ll feel like lifelong friends. If you’re looking for A+++ companions who’ll fill your home with love and joy, Shrimp and Oyster are ready to meet you!

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
