My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tyson!
Tyson is a 3-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Siberian Husky mix with a tan coat, a white underbelly, and intense hickory-brown eyes. His muscular build and confident demeanor reflect the powerful, independent dog that he is.

Personality and Traits:
Tyson is a strong, dominant dog with a cool, calm approach to affection. While he’s not interested in toys, he thrives when given a job or purpose, making him an excellent candidate for anyone looking for a working dog. Whether it`s agility, obedience training, or another form of active engagement, Tyson needs a home where he can put his energy and intelligence to good use. He’s independent by nature, but once he’s connected to his person, he’s loyal and ready to work alongside them.

Special Considerations:
Tyson would do best with an experienced owner who’s familiar with strong-willed and independent breeds. He pulls on the leash and can be reactive toward other dogs during walks, so training and structure are essential to help him thrive. He plays well with other dogs in foster homes but has a rougher playstyle, so a proper introduction to any potential pack mates will be key. Tyson will flourish with someone who can provide consistent training, clear boundaries, and plenty of activity to keep him physically and mentally stimulated.

Ideal Home:
Tyson’s ideal home is with someone who can keep him engaged and provide him with the structure he needs. He’s not a beginner dog, but for someone with the right experience and commitment, Tyson will be an excellent companion. He would do well in a home with a job or regular tasks to keep him focused and fulfilled.

Why Adopt Tyson?
If you’re looking for a strong, smart, and capable dog with a working mindset, Tyson is ready to shine with the right person. With training, structure, and plenty of engagement, he has the potential to be a loyal and hardworking companion. Adopt Tyson and help him unlock his full

Go meet their pets

Thank you for your interest in adopting from West Valley City/Taylorsville Animal Services! We would love for you to come to the shelter and meet your new family member.

You can come to the shelter Monday through Friday between 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm and walk through to see the animals we have available for adoption.

Please keep in mind that adoptions are first come, first serve. We often have a few pets that would make a good match for each family, so if the animal you are interested in is no longer available, you can still come in and meet some animals to see if there's a good fit.

You can see all of our animals at www.wvcpets.com [wvcpets.com]
