Meet the Pet
This helps Richardson Humane Society with pet care costs.
Meet Scouty Pants, or Scout for short! This little dynamo is a dilute orange American domestic cat with just a sprinkle of Munchkin (1% to be exact—though you’d never guess that, since he’s bigger than his sister Rosie Pie!).
Scout’s adventure began in a backyard, nestled among some car parts—truly a “junkyard gem!” Now, he’s all about zoomies, wrestling matches with Rosie, and plotting the occasional sneak attack on any head of hair that looks too cozy. His big purrs are loud enough to echo across the room, and he loves to show off his playful side with all kinds of toys. He also enjoys nibbling on hair, beards and ears! Nothing like a little grooming practice, right? With a mischievous streak a mile wide, you might catch him plotting his next playful ambush or sneaking into places he probably shouldn’t be.
His sister Rosie Pie is his ultimate partner-in-crime, and together they make the best tag-team duo! Scout dreams of finding a forever home where their sibling adventures can continue. If you’re looking for double the fun and endless laughter, this spirited pair might just be the purrfect match for you! You can check out more photos and videos of Scouty Pants and his sister Rosie Pie on Instagram: @the_mini_meows or https://www.instagram.com/the_mini_meows
Scouty Pants is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, he is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program!
Foster-to-Adopt Program Details
We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization
We don’t have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted.
Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they’re eligible for adoption.
Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster’s home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed.
Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed.
Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters.
Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal’s adoption fee of $135.
RHS Adoption Process and Requirements
Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations and on a flea/heartworm preventative. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit by an RHS representative.
Phone Interview. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview.
Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will coordinate a virtual home visit. We’ll request you send videos/pictures of your home to verify it is safe and welcoming for the cat.
Meet and Greet. Once your home visit is complete, we can coordinate a time with you and the foster parent/s to meet the kitty you’re interested in.
Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $135 for cats, and payable by Paypal, Venmo, cash, or check. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.
