Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Zaylo is a barn cat, and is not available through our general adoption program. Please email adopt@calgaryhumane.ca if you are interested in adoption. Do not make an appointment through our booking calendar.
Age: 6-8 months
Zaylo is a young cat who was rescued from an overcrowding situation and is now looking for his forever home. Having grown up with little to no human socialization, Zaylo is quite fearful of us here and would do best with cat friends. For this reason, we believe Zaylo would thrive as a barn cat. With winter coming, we are hoping to find Zaylo a safe, warm, barn or shop environment with plenty of cozy hiding spaces and access to daily fresh food or water. In return for access to food and a comfortable living space, Zaylo is ready to help hunt and deter mice and other rodents from the area.
Cats can take several weeks to view a new space as `home` but once they do, barn kitties tend to stick close to home, ensuring you can enjoy each others` company for many years to come. That`s why confinement indoors for the first several weeks will be important. Afterwards, you can choose how much of a relationship you`d like to have with your new barn buddy! While barn cats qualify for the program due to their under socialization to people, with time many barn cats will become quite friendly with their humans.
If you have a cozy and warm space to welcome Zaylo into, please email our adoptions team today!

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.
Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.
Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.
Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.
Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.
Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
