Meet Noir, a sleek, long-haired black cat with a wild spirit and a heart that’s slowly learning to trust. Noir came to the shelter with two kittens, and like them, he was understandably scared and uncertain in his new surroundings. He allowed staff to handle him just enough to safely move him into a kennel and apply flea and tick treatment, but once settled in, his fear took over. He hissed loudly and swatted at anyone who got too close, trying his best to flee. Despite his initial reactions, he never attempted to bite—he’s a cat who prefers to run rather than fight.
Over the past few weeks, Noir has made great strides in socialization. While still somewhat wary, he’s learning that gentle interactions aren’t something to fear. He has graduated from his feral box and now tolerates pets and momentary handling. However, at his core, Noir is still very much wild at heart. He’s an independent soul with a strong desire to explore, hunt, and roam.
Noir would thrive in a home where he has the freedom to be himself. Ideally, he would do best as an indoor/outdoor cat or even just outdoors, where he can live life on his terms. He’s not a fan of full confinement and will need a household that can offer him the space and environment to feel comfortable. With time, patience, and a bit of freedom, Noir could blossom into a loyal companion for an experienced cat owner who understands his independent nature.
If you’re looking for a cat who loves adventure and is ready to share his world with you (on his own terms), Noir might just be your perfect match!
