My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Over the weekend (10/26) , we had the joy of welcoming one of the sweetest souls we’ve ever met—Sadie! This gorgeous, 96lb, 2 year old Lab is not just a pretty face; she has a heart of pure gold.Sadie recently underwent double eye entropion surgery, a procedure to correct the inward rolling of her eyelids that was causing her discomfort and irritation. Now, as she heals in her loving foster home, her beautiful eyes are expected to look even better! From her freedom ride to her foster placement, she’s been praised by all who have met her—“Sadie is an angel!” She is super affectioante, loves giving kisses and getting lots of praise. As she settles into her new environment, Sadie will need some time to adjust. She’s eager to learn how to walk on a leash and navigate the city, but she’s also ready to shower a family with endless love and kisses along the way. She adores everyone, including other dogs, and her gentle spirit makes her a joy to be around. Sadie is currently looking for a foster-to-adopt or forever home where she can continue her healing journey surrounded by love. If you feel that you could provide Sadie with the caring environment she deserves, please apply at rescuecity.nyc/adopt or email rescue@rescuecity.nyc with any questions.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

The first step of the adoption process is to complete an adoption application in full at www.rescuecity.nyc. All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the city. We do not have a physical location where we keep dogs.

More about this rescue

Rescue City is a no-kill, non-profit1 pet rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption organization. Our team of dedicated volunteers is based in Brooklyn, NY and serves the NYC metro and surrounding areas.

Our organization’s motto is: There’s a person for every dog, and there’s a dog for every person…it’s just a matter of time. This applies whether you are looking to adopt a pet, or would like to make a positive impact on the lives of animals. At Rescue City we believe it is our moral responsibility to defend the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.
We take on helpless stray and surrendered animals, as well as those at the top of the euthanasia list at local and international shelters. We place our rescues in nurturing foster homes while they rebuild their lives through physical and mental rehabilitation. Following a thorough – but hassle free – adoption process, our Rescues are placed in loving, responsible, and committed permanent homes. Every rescue is fully vetted and altered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated upon adoption. Our commitment to our rescues does not stop once the adoption paperwork is signed. We stress the importance of responsible pet ownership, and we educate our Fosters, Adopters, and community on what it means to be a good pet owner.
