My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leonardo DiCatrio
Although I am not an artist and have never painted any French ladies, I think my name is rather dashing! I have lived with my family all my life and am 10-years-old. I am solid grey with a white necktie and golden/green eyes. My owner surrendered me to the HSHC because I sometimes avoided the litterbox over the last year. The HSHC staff reports that living with children (1, 2, and 7 years old, who pulled my tail), living with another cat and a dog, being declawed on my front paws, and having diabetes were all sources of stress for me. Since being at the HSHC, I have been treated for a URI and my diabetes. I prefer to avoid being held and uncomfortable with large groups of new people and trips to the vet. I have used my litterbox here without fail. The interviewer lady (IL) and I had such a good time. As she petted me, I licked her hands and gave her a few headbutts. She agrees with me about preferring a calm, relatively quiet home. I am pleased and very excited about moving in with a new forever family who will understand my needs and provide me with the care and love I deserve. 11-11-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
