Update 7/22 - Missi is healthy, has gained weight, and is just the sweetest girl. Missi is currently attending board and train and is thriving! She is learning so much. She is doing great with crate and potty training. With structure and continued training, any home would be so lucky to have her! She loves meeting dogs and humans!
——
We were contacted by a very Good Samaritan who saw an emaciated dog that was very weak. She struggled to lay down when she finally found a doormat, as she is skin and bones, barely lifting her head when approached. She looked defeated, covered in sores and wounds on contact areas (most likely from being confined in a small area). The woman called us crying at the sight of this dog and together, we were able to get her safely to the vet.
We named her Missi and raced her to our amazing veterinary partner to assess and begin treatment. A investigation was opened but sadly, no owner has been able to be located to find out how she got to be in this unimaginable state. She looks to be a lab and is estimated to be 3 years old. It is rare to see this in our county and we know this did not happen overnight. This would have taken months and months. Missi is safe now and on her way to making a full recovery. It will take time for her to gain the weight she needs and for the sores to heal, but her heart is as big as they come and she wants nothing but to love and be loved.
She seems to be good with cats, all people and has been in the presence of other dogs without any issues. If you would like to adopt Missi, please fill out an application on our website.
