Hatch Date: 2007
Petey is a very sweet, Female Sun Conure. She is 17 years old, and her parents got older and developed serious health problems, and they could no longer care for her. She is a very easy bird, but she has never been confined in her cage, so wouldn't do well in a setting where she needed to be enclosed all day.
Petey loves to sit on top of her cage and watch out the window. She will get loud and carry on, if she sees something out there that she feels her housemates should know about. Most of the time, though, she is typical conure-loud.
Petey has been pulling feathers for years. She likely pulls due to hormonal issues, but it doesn't seem to affect her at all, except for in the springtime, when she tends to lay a couple eggs.
She is adjusting well in her foster home and allows her foster mom to snuggle her before bedtime. She loves to sit in your shirt and fall asleep and then complains when you take her out.
Petey isn't bothered by the dogs in her foster home, but she won't be adopted out to any homes that have dogs with any natural prey drive, as Petey is not a strong flyer, and wouldn't be able to save herself easily.
Petey loves to eat and was raised on a variety of pellets, seeds, nuts, and dried fruits. Her foster family is still getting to know her, and starting to love her already. We hope there's an adopter out there who will overlook her little bobblehead appearance and love her just the same!
Petey is being fostered in Howell, NJ Potential adopters must be willing to do the required number of in-person visits before adoption.
We do not ship our birds.
