Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Tux was found as a friendly stray that was clearly struggling with life outdoors. When he came to us, he had old semi-healed bite wounds on his face, likely from being attacked by other outdoor cats. During a routine workup we found that Tux is FIV(+), which means he could potentially be more susceptible to illnesses compared to the average cat. FIV is transmitted from cat to cat through deep bite wounds. FIV (+) and (-) cats can live together safely as long as they coexist!
Tux is an incredibly sweet and outgoing guy. He is always on the hunt for someone to love and adore. He's super friendly and loves his cuddles and especially booty scratches. He's definitely a "people-person" kitty! Wherever you are, that's where he'll be.
He's been a little timid around new cats but is slowly learning that he doesn't have to worry about getting into fights anymore. He has few feline friends that are helping him work on his confidence around other animals and we think he'd do just fine in a home with other laid-back pets with a slow introduction. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 12.67 Age: 3yrs 5mths 2wks

More about this shelter
Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.
To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
