My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dori may have had a rough start in life, but this young 3 year old Hound has a heart of gold! She came to our shelter as a skin and bones stray, covered in seed ticks and fleas. But despite her tough past, Dori remains a sweet and lovable pup with a playful and goofy personality.

At 40 pounds, this petite and pretty Hound may be small in size, but she makes up for it with her big heart and boundless energy. Dori is an active and busy girl, always eager to play and explore her surroundings. She would thrive in an active and patient home that can keep up with her energy level and provide plenty of playtime and exercise.

Dori is also a sociable pup who enjoys the company of other dogs. In fact, she would do best in a home with a companion animal to keep her company and play with. She's a social butterfly who will surely bring lots of love and laughter to any family lucky enough to adopt her.

Dori is spayed, we have microchipped and updated all vaccines including rabies. She has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention.

More about this shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petfinder, Petsmart adoption events and now with the help of Adopt-A-Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
