My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Howdy! Meet Sheriff Shirley, a lovely young momma looking to start her newest adventure in a home of her own!

Sheriff Shirley is a VERY social girl who loves to chat and spend time with her people. She loves her wet food and treats, and doesn't seem to mind the company of other cats. Her only request of her new home is to have a cozy lap and lots of toys, and she promises to reward you with endless of purrs and cuddles.

****Sheriff Shirley is currently in a quarantine area as she was exposed to a fungal infection that another cat had when she was in the same room. Although she does not show any symptoms of this, at this time she will need to be adopted with a waiver and further conversations. If you're interested in learning more please contact us at shuswap@spca.bc.ca or give us a call 250-832-7376 ****

If you think Sheriff Shirley would be a good fit for your home, please submit an application to the Shuswap branch through the link below!

Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
