My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Tyson: Your Future Best Friend! 🐾

Hi, I'm Tyson! I may look like a young, energetic pup, but trust me-I'm not fooling anyone! I'm more of a couch "potato" than a hiking enthusiast! My idea of a good time is simply lounging by your side and soaking up the love.

I've been through a lot in my life, but that's not what I want to focus on. What really matters is that I'm a sweet boy just looking for a loving home where I can truly belong. While I may have a little trust to build, I'm learning to enjoy my daily walks and positive interactions with people. I do best in a calm, adult-only home with not too many visitors, as I can get a bit nervous around new people.

Because of some past experiences, I don't like other dogs, and can be quite reactive. Sadly this is often the reason I am overlooked.

A few years ago, I had a pretty rough time with a severe ear infection that needed surgery and a lot of recovery. After that, I found a family, but unfortunately, they could no longer care for me. Now I'm back, just as handsome as ever maybe a few pounds heavier, and ready to find my forever family.

If you're looking for a chill, loyal companion who's more interested in snuggles than adventure, I might just be the perfect fit for you. Please submit an online application if you're ready to give me the loving home I deserve! I can't wait to meet you! 💖🐶

The Chilliwack Branch is an Animal Protection Centre for pets who have been rescued from abusive or neglectful homes. The Centre is open to the public by appointment only due to the security issues associated with housing animals awaiting the outcome of legal proceedings. We will accept surrendered animals by appointment only, and we are open for adoptions on special occasions.

More about this shelter

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
