My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hank - Available for adoption
~1 year old male
In foster care since: October 4th, 2024
Fostered in Dutton, Ontario
Adoption fee: 700

Meet Hank! This very good boy is making his official social media debut today! He is ready to find his forever family, and he’s hopeful that he will start his NEW life in his NEW home in the NEW year with his NEW family!

Hank was found by community members on a local First Nations reservation. After searching online, nobody seemed to know where he came from or who he belonged to - and that’s where we stepped in. We have had Hank in care for a couple of months now and we aren’t quite sure why. He attended a meet and greet event where the everybody fell in love with him and we were hopeful he’d find a home, but it didn’t happen. He is the absolute best dog.

Hank greets you when you arrive home with the biggest tail wag and demands to be pet. He will stare at you silently until you do so, or will push all of the other dogs out of the way to get to you first and get his well deserved pets.

Hank gets along well with all dogs and loves children, but is known around his foster home to get a little too excited with the excitement and activity of the children sometimes. Hank is being fostered in a home with cats and would do well with one in his new home, so long as proper introductions were done. Due to him still being young, he does find them very exciting.

He is a big boy, but don’t tell him that! He likes to think of himself as a bit of a lap dog, thank you very much! Hank is hoping for a home that will allow him to lounge on the couch and enjoy some cuddles. He loves to curl up with his foster mom and comes running when he sees the blanket get pulled out.

He is house trained and leash trained. He sits for a treat and is naturally very gentle taking it from your hands. Car rides are still a struggle. Hank is very hesitant to enter the car and usually needs two adults to help him in. He does also get a little bit nervous when he goes to new areas. With lots of love to show Hank he has nothing to be scared of, we are positive he will gain the confidence we know he has!

Hank is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations.

More about this rescue

Baladi & Sled Dog Rescue of Ontario is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, providing veterinary care, and finding loving homes for dogs from the dog sledding industry. We also extend our reach locally by rescuing stray dogs and cats from Indigenous communities that we partner with.

Our rescue began saving street dogs and cats, AKA Baladis, in Egypt. Since the important on animals ban implemented in 2022, we are no longer allowed to bring animals into Canada from Egypt. Our efforts, however, expand globally, as we continue to help support the placement of Baladi's in Egyptian shelters.
