My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jackie is a 1-year-old Border Collie/Shepherd mix with a heart of gold and a ton of energy to match! He was brought to the shelter after being found as a stray, and though he's had a rough start, Jackie is ready for a fresh start with a loving family. Unfortunately, the dog in his previous home didn't quite get along with him, but Jackie has shown that he is friendly and playful with other dogs, so he'd likely do best in a home with a compatible canine companion.

Jackie is a bundle of joy with endless energy-he can go all day long, making him a perfect match for an active family or someone who loves the outdoors. Whether it's playing in the yard, going on long walks, or running around, Jackie is always ready for adventure. He walks beautifully on a leash, making walks a pleasant experience for everyone.

Though Jackie may be shy and reserved at first, he quickly warms up once he gets to know you. Once he trusts you, he's as sweet as can be and will shower you with affection. He's already crate trained, and knows some basic commands which will help as he continues to work on his skills.

If you're looking for an affectionate and energetic companion who's ready to be your loyal best friend, Jackie could be the perfect fit! He just needs a patient, loving home where he can feel safe, have fun, and be the playful, loving pup he was always meant to be.

Come meet Jackie today and give this sweet boy the home he deserves!

More about this shelter

Dogwood Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill shelter.

Since its infancy, compassionate, like-minded volunteers have been the driving force behind Dogwood Animal Shelter. Through auctions and sales, a handful of dedicated people raised enough money to build its first, albeit small facility and was established as a 501(c) 3 in 1976. It was filled beyond capacity almost immediately.

The shelter is funded entirely from donations and proceeds from their Dogwood Animal Shelter Thrift Store.

After years of saving, planning and busting at the seams with fur-babies, in 2005 it was time to build a new facility with their own in-house clinic! Under the direction of Dr. John Reinhold and coupled with a very dedicated and gifted team of Veterinarians and staff, Dogwood Animal Shelter continues to offer low cost spays and neuters to the public as well as services to their shelter buddies; services to approximately 2,000 dogs and cats yearly!

Dogwood Animal Shelter began their journey of being a successful no-kill shelter in 1997, and since then has saved over 40,000 lives!
