I am looking for a home with a patient person.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.

Golden tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

A volunteer writes: I've never been a big fan of change and it seems neither is Golden. He just isn't so sure about Care Center life and I can't say I blame him. Golden used to live in a store where he did important cat work and was always on top of his game. Noted to be friendly with his colleagues, efficient and effective in his tasks, the shelter's been a bit of a let down but shimmery golden skies are just up ahead. Golden has preferred burrowing into his cubby more than the thought of making new friends and neither treats nor pets seem to be changing his mind at the moment. It happens. He has big fluffy cheeks that I just want to snuggle, but sometimes the best thing we can do is to offer our patience and open hearted welcome. Changing jobs and circumstances may make it challenging to show the best part of ourselves, but we've explained to Golden that true friends and forever families will always wait.

Animal Care Centers of NYC encourages everyone to come to one of our three full service Care Centers when looking to adopt a pet. Beautiful dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits are anxiously waiting a home to call their own.

All ACC adoptions include vaccinations, a microchip, spay/neuter, one month of free pet health insurance, and a free office visit at a participating veterinarian.
