Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
At 5 ½ months (on Nov 28) and coming in at around 30 lbs, this smaller of two brothers is getting a little too big to carry around. But, I promise you he is not too big to snuggle on top of you on the couch. Lewis loves to play inside or out and would be best with a partner to explore the house, backyard, or wherever you’ll let him explore. Lewis’s exploring does not include pools and he enjoys swimming about as much as he enjoys baths (not very much) He’s very close to his brother but would be just as happy with another partner of your choosing. A partner to play with is highly recommended. He can play rough, so the other partner should be ready to play as well and should be fairly youthful. Not only is Lewis great with dogs, but he is non-aggressive but curious with cats. He has been cat trained the hard way more than a few times. Lewis is 100% potty trained, dog door trained, and loves and sleeps in his kennel. He eats every meal in his kennel and that’s where he gets treats regularly. He is a very smart, fast learner and learned sit within the first three tries. He is leash ready and loves walks with the family. Don’t be mis-led by his size, Lewis is all puppy still and you’ll want bitter apple and chew toys available in the house at all times. He absolutely loves the fairly expensive but long-lasting Himalayan Cheese Chews or an equivalent (never rawhides). Lewis makes lots of funny noises when playing with his brother Clark, and you’ll love how he shows his emotions through his ears. He has the BEST derpy ears. This little explorer is so much fun, and we’re confident he will become part of the family immediately. Lewis’s brother is also up for adoption, and these two would be great if adopted together or separately.
**Because we require home visits, we only adopt locally to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For more on adoption policies, please see the How it Works page of our website, www.habitat4paws.org.

2.
Home Check
We require a home visit. If all is good and everyone is in agreement, we will leave the pet for a 5 day home trial.
3.
Pay Fee
After a successful home trail, we ask to finalize the paperwork and pay the adoption fee.
Additional adoption info
FEES:
Dogs are $250
Puppies under 1 year are $275
Cats and kittens are $185
All animals have been spayed/neutered, received age appropriate vaccinations, had a heart-worm test, a Feline Leukemia test and a fecal check and are dewormed, microchipped and current on heart-worm and flea preventative medications at the time of adoption.
Adopters must be 21 and have a valid Texas driver’s license or a state-issued ID that matches the home address. If new to the area, a utility bill in the name of adopter will suffice. Renters must present proof of pet deposit or landlord approval to have a pet.
We require that you visit with a pet and adoption counselor. We prefer that all family members be present when the pet is introduced to its potential new family. Current pets are welcomed and encouraged to be part of the meeting too.
If a good match is found, adopters complete an application. Same day adoptions may be done; however, Habitat 4 Paws reserves the right to request a home visit prior to adoption. We do not hold pets nor do we adopt on a first-come/first-serve basis.

More about this rescue
The mission of H4P is to rescue and find permanent homes for dogs and cats while caring for them in a volunteer-staffed facility and foster program. We are currently raising funds for a building and in the interim are a foster based group.
Beyond just sheltering animals, we are proactive in other areas that will help keep animals out of municipal shelters. Paws Pantry animal-food bank collects and distributes dog and cat food to those in need. H4P hosts microchip clinics so that animals will have a permanent ID and can be reunited with their owners.
