Here's what the humans have to say about me:
** If you are interested in adopting Bean, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness! These super-smart and very loving young babies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them possibly homeless and alone or at risk of euthanasia at a high-kill shelter.
Bean is starting out with great energy, and sweet as can be!
Bean is currently 6 weeks old, and a whopping 3 lbs. His estimated full grown weight is around 20 lbs.
He is believed by the vets to be a Chiweenie (Dachshund/Chihuahua mix). Of course we can't swear to his breed mix, as it is just an educated guess done by the vets. It is always hard to tell when it is such a young pup. But what we can swear to is that he is an adorable, happy, little puppy!
Bean, at just 6 weeks old found himself in a scary high kill shelter in Houston. This poor guy was found by a person out on their morning walk. He was alone, and playing with a branch in a bush (talk about not a care in the world, haha!).
Since Bean is just a puppy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion.
Bean will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by virtual or in-person force-free Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in his relationship/bonding with his people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior.
Bean will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. However, he will still need 1 more parvo/distemper vaccines before it is safe for him to walk on public ground.
Extensive new research shows that Bean is far too young to be neutered at this time. Neuter is required to be done before he turns 1 year old (7-8 months of age is recommended) and neuter is required to finalize any adoption.
Farfel's Rescue covers the full cost of his neuter if our rescue vet is used.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet dog! An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Alfie please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!
