This sweet girl is just looking for someone to care for her! Meet Kara (pronounced car-UH), a one-and-a-half-year-old female American Pit Bull Terrier weighing around 45 pounds. Kara was brought to the shelter on 10/28/24 due to being not quite housebroken. Her original owner describes her as a very sweet and smart dog, who knows commands like sit, wait, go ahead, and stay—though she may need a little refresher since it’s been a while since she practiced. She was previously kennel trained and somewhat potty trained, but she’ll need someone patient and understanding to help her refine those skills. Still a playful puppy at heart, Kara loves her chew toys and would benefit from having plenty to keep her busy. She has a history of being good with other dogs and loves to play, and she’s been fine with cats, although she sometimes thinks they want to play with her too and that is not always the case! Kara also has a history of being good with kids, though she might not always be aware of her size and playful energy. A member of the gentle and dainty playgroup at the shelter, Kara can be a bit timid at first, but once she warms up, she’s ready to shower you with love. If you`re ready to welcome this sweet girl into your life, Kara’s just waiting for you to take the wheel and `Kara`ry her home!

More about this shelter
The Daviess County Animal Shelter receives thousands of animals annually. Some of them are returned to their owners, some find new homes, but unfortunately some are never placed in a home. This is why it is so important that these animals find new homes.
