Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Athena is an approximately 1 year old female shih tzu who weighs about 10 pounds.
Athena has had a tough first year of life - she came to us extremely neglected, severely matted, and pregnant. She delivered & raised those babies during her time in foster care with Texas Sweeties and was an excellent mom (despite being too young to have to take on that job!)
Her babies are off to their forever homes, and now Athena is searching for hers.
She is as sweet as can be. She would thrive in a home where someone is there most of the day because she does not like to be all alone. She also would do best with another dog for companionship and to help her learn some confidence when it comes to being separated from her humans.
Athena is still working on potty training - she does a very good job but does still have accidents on occasion. She is not destructive in the house and hasn’t been crated too often in foster. She is working on crate training currently since it’s a good skill to have!
Athena is fine with other dogs and all humans. Toddlers are not her favorite, but she is no way mean or ever aggressive, she just would prefer to not be around them (her foster has one!).
Athena is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. If you think you would be a good match for Athena, please fill out the adoption application. Her adoption fee is $400.
Please Note - we will be prioritizing applicants that have another dog for companionship and are home often!
