My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Josie
I had an emergency surgery just after giving birth to my four kittens. My finder brought us all to the HSHC, and I am so grateful! This event happened back in August, and we all went to a foster home. I am only 18-months-old and having been a stray kitty, being in the shelter and even with my foster mom was quite a shock. I am naturally hesitant and shy, but when it comes to having surgery, I am terrified. I showed my fear by hissing and growling. Now that it is November, the kittens have all been adopted, and I am alone in an apartment. I find it comforting to remain in my Kitty Kasa and stay out of the limelight. Today, the interviewer lady (IL) offered her finger for me to sniff. I remained alert to any danger and stayed put. But then she whispered to me, and I almost stood up to go closer. But I didn`t. She closed my door, and I began to eat my breakfast. So much for being a big, brave cat! Since I weigh only 7.6 lbs., it`s hard to believe I carried four kittens in my tummy. If you don`t mind having a shy cat that will need patience and TLC, I would like it if you would consider adopting me. I long for a nurturing environment where I can feel safe and loved. 11-5-2

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
