My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We rescued handsome Adak from a Kansas shelter. He was a stray that no one claimed. Sweet, affectionate Adak is a smart boy, has already learned some basic commands since arriving in rescue. This may have something to do with being very treat motivated! Adak loves attention and will come over just to be petted. And if you sit or lie down on the floor he will be right next to you. Adak is VERY playful and loves to play with the resident Pyr and takes time for some good naps. He is a little reserved upon first meeting a new person until we let him know that person is okay. After he warms up, he will soak up pets and attention. Adak LOVES other dogs and would be very happy to have a playmate in his furever home. We have not seen him around cats, but imagine he would be fine as he is a very gentle boy. Adak rides great in the car and walks pretty well on a leash until he sees another dog or a squirrel and then he does pull some.
Being fostered in Wichita, KS

We think Adak, named after a city and island in Alaska, is somewhere between 8-9 months old so he still has some growing to do! Adak weighs 65-70 lbs, is up to date on core vaccines and up to date on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. He has some maturing to do before he will be neutered.

More about this rescue

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri is dedicated to rescuing Great Pyrenees who are without a home, need medical attention, or just need a safe haven as they transition to their forever home. We are a volunteer, nonprofit rescue, relying solely on your generous donations. We are currently working to establish our rescue facility in St. Clair, Missouri. Until our facility is constructed, we will be foster based only, with fosters in Missouri and surrounding states. We will continue to have fosters after our facility is built. Our facility will allow us to rescue more Pyrenees in need.
