My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee: $650, plus tax
Location: Foster Home

Johnny is a 3 month old hound mix who was surrendered with his brother from a farm litter in central Minnesota. Johnny is mostly potty trained, grumbles when he's hungry, loves to walk on a leash, and has learned to kennel train for bed time. He's a goofy floppy little guy and loves attention, so definitely adopt him if you want a new best friend! Johnny is great with other dogs, cats and kiddos! He 100% would love someone who was able to keep him on a steady routine. If you would like to meet Johnny, please fill out an application on the Carver Scott website!

Go meet their pets

While we are a foster-based animal rescue and all of our dogs are in foster care, we do have a cat adoption space at our new Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Don's Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.

More about this rescue

Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved.

In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on our Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt over 500 dogs and cats into the community every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.

CSHS focuses on serving and saving Minnesota pets, and we do not transport animals in from out of state. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout the state. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
