Wiley is the goodest boy, who is searching for his forever home.
Wiley was rescued from a rural shelter in Texas that is known for "shooting dogs out back" when they've been at the shelter for more than a month. We know, it's absolutely horrible. When we saw Wiley's face pop up we knew we had to get him out of there. Wiley was relinquished to this shelter by his family that had him since he was a puppy because they had to move and their new home didn't allow dogs...
Wiley transported from Texas to Colorado in August, and has been living his best life with his foster mom since then, and waiting to find his forever home.
Wiley is a 2 year old Cattle Dog mix. He is just 39 lbs. He is pretty dang perfect -- Social, dog friendly, cat friendly, kid friendly, crate trained, and potty trained!
Wiley's foster had the following to say about this special guy:
* * *
"Are you ready to meet the goofiest and most loving boy around? Seriously this guy loves people and loves other dogs, and cannot wait to be your best friend!
Wiley is a young Cattle Dog mix, so he is active and will do best in an active home who enjoys hiking or walking, and/or one with another doggy sibling for him to play with.
He loves to play play play with his foster siblings but does leave my older dogs alone when they don't want to play. He likes toys, especially tennis balls but he definitely prefers playing with other dogs.
We have 2 cats and 4 large dogs and he does amazing here.
Wiley really hits all the "amazing dog" marks! He is:
-Potty trained!
-Dog friendly!
-Cat friendly!
-Crate trained!
-Great on leash!
-Great in the car!
-Huge snuggle bug!
-Not destructive!
-Very quiet!
-Good with kids (over 8)!
-Active, but has an off switch!
-Adapts quickly to new environments!
He absolutely loves to go for adventures and sniff around. He's a really, really good dog!"

We envision Wiley with a younger couple or individual who work from a home-based office. Active retirees would be a great match too, as long as Wiley can get the energy out that he needs.
We feel that Wiley is too sensitive a guy to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home.
This really smart guy will be a natural in positive reinforcement / force free group obedience classes. Wiley will love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please that we have no doubt that he'll excel. Farfel's feels so strongly that positive training classes are imperative for the long-term relationship between humans and dogs that we're unwilling to adopt Wiley to a family that doesn't choose a training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force free trainers in your area.
Wiley has been vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to stay true to our commitment to end euthanasia in the overpopulated canine community.
Wiley is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for our gorgeous pup. If interested in this very cuddly, super-smart and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Wiley please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue
We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
