My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lelo's journey began when she was found alone and scared but, after lots of TLC in her foster home, this sweet "pocket pittie" is ready for her next chapter: a forever home filled with patience, love, and belly rubs!
Lelo thrives in a home where she can build confidence at her own pace, especially with a compassionate adopter who understands that trust takes time but is oh-so worth it. Bonus points if there's a playful pup to show her the ropes!
The perfect mix of playful and relaxed, Lelo loves toy romps and wrestling with doggy friends before settling in for a cozy nap. While she's not a fan of busy streets or noisy cars, she's happy to trade long walks for backyard zoomies or hanging out with her humans. Social with dogs of all sizes, she also does well solo, as long as she gets a little extra reassurance in new situations. Potty-trained and well-mannered, Lelo's sweet, playful spirit shines once she feels safe.
Her journey has taught her resilience, and now she's ready to teach her forever family the meaning of unconditional love. With her playful nature, sweet disposition, and adorable "pocket pittie charm, Lelo is sure to brighten every day.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
