My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Hope, and I’m looking for a forever home where I can feel safe and loved. I was found as a stray in rural Georgia and ended up in a scary shelter. Right after I arrived, Hurricane Helene hit, and the shelter became even more crowded. It was a tough time, but I was rescued just in time.

I’m about 5 years old, so I’m well past the puppy phase. When I first came to my foster home, you could count my ribs, but with lots of tasty food and treats, I’ve filled out to a healthy 40 pounds. My foster mom thinks I may have been used for breeding, but that’s all behind me now—no more puppies, just a happy new life ahead.

I’m a little shy when meeting new people, but once I learn I can trust you, I’m all about snuggles and love. I get along great with other dogs and don’t bother cats either. I feel safe in my crate and even go in on my own, especially with soft blankets to cuddle on. I’m gentle when taking treats, and I’m learning to walk on a leash better every day. I am mostly a calm girl. I love to curl up at your feet and hangout all day.

If you think I might be the one for you, please fill out an application at www.bcaaofnj.org. I can’t wait to meet you!

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
