My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Flash is a 19/20-year-old lovable and cuddly senior lady looking for her forever home!

This lovely lady is awesome. She's can’t hear but she loves to talk—she has a lot of opinions. This beautiful girl does what she wants, when she wants, regardless of what else is going on.

Flash loves snacks, snuggles, and naps. She has three favorite nap spots: The faux-fur blanket on the couch, her fuzzy bed hidden under the end table in the den, and (of course!) in bed with mom.

She is an expert napper and tries to steal your food if you’re not watching!

This sweet tortie gal is currently in a townhome with 1 person, 1 small old dog, and 6 other lazy cats. She is good with other cats and dogs but will be the first one to start throwing hands and yelling if she's not happy. Kids are unknown, but probably not for her, as she is enjoying the quiet laid back senior life.

Flash needs a calm, loving home with people and other chill animals who are just gonna let her do Flash things. She doesn't want to play; she just wants to snack and snuggle. She will thrive in a place with humans who work from home or are around a lot and happy to spend plenty of time with her.

She is deaf, arthritic, and has very few teeth left. She gets Solensia injections and eats wet food only. She's ancient. And she's the greatest cat ever. But she's going to need someone who understands her dietary needs and will continue her Solensia shots to help with her arthritis.

I know she looks really grumpy, but that's just her expression. She has such a sweet soul and deserves to live out her golden years as the true queen that she is. Please consider adding this beautiful girl to your home and your heart.

There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown. All ages and breeds are best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated.

Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow up visits and boosters that are not covered by Pet Haven after adoption. Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? These lovely sisters are chatty, cozy, Velcro cats who love to be with their people! If you work from home or are around a lot, these gals want to spend time with you!

Because these ladies have the wisdom and gentle demeanor of senior cats, they also have a few needs. Soft food is essential, as they don’t have too many teeth left. They especially love the tasty gravy!

Callie is very reserved; it may take her a while to feel comfortable with new people. But when she does, she is so loving. Callie has beautiful long fur that will need regular brushing to keep her looking her stylin’ and mat-free.

Flash is the opposite—she is full of opinions! She is chatty, loud, and wants to be up in your business. This gal loves people food and will try and take yours if you’re not watching your plate! Flash is deaf, and requires Solensia injections to help with her joints; these are simple to get, and can easily be arranged with your vet.

This hilarious pair is long on personality and affection. They would thrive in a quiet household with people who are frequently home. They do fine with other cats and dogs (no children, please). They are so ready to give you so much love. If you’d love to give these beautiful girls the loving quality of life they deserve for their golden years, please consider adding Flash (tortie) and Callie (calico) to your family.

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
