My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a snuggle bunny that’s actually not a bunny? Our little Feyra is your girl. Feyra loves to sit on your lap and give head bumps and sandpaper kisses. And she’s a quiet, polite girl with her indoor voice (that’s a silent meow), although she’s been known to speak a little. Feyra was found by a kind lady who had a friend take good care of her until she was brought to the shelter. We estimate she was born around June 12. We’re trying to find Feyra a roomie that she’ll be comfortable with, but if you’re looking for that one kitten who will be your companion then Feyra is for you!You can apply on line at www.hsvawl.org by completing the Adoption Application on the home page.October 28, 2024, 7:01 am

Adoption Procedure

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The very best way to find a pet that matches best to your family is to come to the Adoption Center to see our available animals and arrange to meet those who are in foster care. Better still, before you come, view our available pets on Adopt-A-Pet.

Another benefit to coming to the Adoption Center is that animals and adopters frequently have a special relationship that starts the very first time they meet. You may find the love of your life being very different than what you envisioned. The pet you will be most pleased with will be the one with the temperament that fits your personality. That frequently has absolutely nothing to do with the looks or breed of the animal.

When you adopt one of our pets, you will get an animal that has been checked by our veterinarian, spayed or neutered, given basic shots (including Rabies and puppy/kitten shots), a folder with the medical history and various useful information, and a contact with someone to answer any questions you might have as your pet settles into your home.

What we will ask of you is a small adoption donation to the League, which is only a very small portion of what you would pay a veterinarian for all those services. We will also ask you to promise that, if for any reason it does not work out, that you will bring the animal back to us. We have made a financial commitment to that pet because we felt it would give someone a great deal of pleasure, therefore we made a substantial monetary and emotional commitment to the animal.

More about this rescue

We are a nonprofit Arkansas corporation that raises funds for veterinary care and housing for adoptable cats and dogs that come to us through the Animal Control Intake of Hot Springs Village Property Owners Association and community resources. The Animal Control is one side of the building and we have use of some kennels on other side of the Shelter building, so we are separate, but cooperative units, and AWL administers the adoptions shelter side of the building. Our volunteers work at the Adoption Center to socialize, feed and clean the animals, foster many more animals for which we have no room in our shelter, and hold adoption events in Benton and Hot Springs. In addition we run spay and neuter clinics to help the surrounding rural areas with population control, and work with local schools to educate children about pets and animals.
