My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wendigo is a beautiful and spunky dilute tortoiseshell DSH with an estimated birthdate of 10/23/2018. She came to Murci's Mission as a stray who a local community member had been feeding for an extended length of time.

Wendi was microchipped and upon tracing her chip, we found it was never registered, but had been implanted at SCRAPS. We were then able to call SCRAPS who gave us owner information for the chip. We were able to make contact with the person on the chip, however they had rehomed her to another person who had then given her to a shelter, where she was then adopted, and who knows where else life's journey has taken her until she came to the Mission.

PLEASE LET THIS BE A REMINDER THAT AN UNREGISTERED MICROCHIP IS JUST AS USEFUL AS A BLANK ID TAG! REGISTER YOUR PET'S MICROCHIP.

Wendigo has been through a minimum of two animal shelters and three private homes in her life, and frankly, she's a baddie and she deserves better than that. From here on out, Wendi is only seeking a committed adopter who will make living space #7 into lucky number 7 and refuse to treat her as disposable ever again. From here on out, she will have a REGISTERED MICROCHIP that will actually function as a form of identification if she is ever lost.

So far, Wendi is vocal and energetic, but highly social and adapting well to living with other cats. We anticipate she would have fun in a house with kids who wanted to play wand and toss the mylar ball with her. She would likely be ok around respectful dogs given time to adjust to new surroundings. Wendi is great with cat box usage, and has been non destructive.

Wendigo comes spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Her adoption fee is $50 and includes her medical records and a sample of the food she's been eating. If you're not 100% committed to a full lifetime with a new pet, save Wendi the misfortune of another lost family and do not proceed to apply, but if you're ready to turn her life around and give her the stable future she deserves, send in an application at www.murcismission.org.

Thank you for checking out our Wendi girl and thank you for being committed to housing your pets for their whole lives.

More about this rescue

From the day we could talk we told our pets more than we ever told our parents. We took the long route to see the kitty in the window down the street. We stopped even when we were late to pet the dog. We grew up and we saw what the world does to those who can't defend themselves. We are here to change that.

Ethical rescue, including fully vetting every animal and carefully placing them all into homes matched to their physical and mental needs is what we do.

Respecting all life, both animal and human, while retaining an underlying goal of keeping animals in their homes. and fostering a sense of community between local shelters and rescues is how we do it.
