My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Maverick is an experienced livestock guardian dog that is great with sheep and goats. He does well with others. He needs to be neutered before adoption. He is 7 months old, solid muscle and absolutely stunning brindle Anatolian. He weighs about 70lbs now but will probably be over 90lbs once full grown. He is timid around strangers but warms right up within minutes. He gets in and out of the car with some coaxing but I think a short training session he will be fine. He loves treats and will eat them when you throw them on the ground. He respects fencing and has not tried to jump or escape a fenced area with livestock. He lacks human socialization and will need a few minutes to warm up to strangers. Once warmed up, hes just fine. A trainer is coming by this week to work on basic commands and leash walking. UTD on all vaccinations, with proof. Needs to be neutered before adoption.

Owner surrender reason: He needs a larger property with someone that has more experience with LGDs. He's a great protector. He just wants to be left alone and left with his animals.

Additional adoption info

Great Pyrenees Rescue, Montana's mission is to help rehabilitate abused and displaced Great Pyrenees dogs, and find them the best forever home.

Adopting a friend
We work hard to find the best home for our dogs. We want this home to be their forever home. An adoption application is required with a vet reference. A home visit is also done. PERMANENT, SECURE FENCING IS REQUIRED Our adoption donation for most dogs is $275.00 for our dogs and this money is used to cover vet expense, spay/neuter charges, transport expense and caring for our dogs until they are adopted. A senior dog age 8 or older and our special needs dogs, we ask for $175.00 donation. This adoption donation is lower because you may need more health care for the seniors or special needs. We want them all to find a happy home and to be loved forever. FENCING FOR THIS BREED NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 5 FOOT HIGH.
NOTE: The electric underground fencing is unacceptable for this breed.

More about this rescue

Please note: We are not a shelter. We are a group of volunteers. All of our dogs are fostered at someone's home OR at Old Farm Kennels. They are loved by their foster parents, some of them are socialized and their personalities and traits are well known by the foster family.
