Bruce is almost the perfect dog. He's an 11 month old, pure-bred Golden Retriever with AKC papers. He started his life in Kentucky training to be a bomb dog, but lacked the intensity required and found his way to Washington. The existing dog in that home didn't care for the new addition, so Bruce came to us. He's well behaved, is non-reactive, and great with kids.
Why are we re-homing Bruce? Somewhere along his journey Bruce developed separation anxiety. His particular anxiety is more than we are currently capable of correcting. We've used trazedone for those times we leave him alone, which is often successful in calming him, but those times it doesn't work, or when we need to leave him alone on short notice, he experiences serious anxiety.
We are looking for someone with experience with anxiety or someone who does not plan to leave Bruce alone often, as that will be the best fit for him. He's truly a wonderful dog for the right family.
