My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for an energetic, social and loving companion? Meet Sofi!

A vibrant, and loving girl who seeks an active forever home with experienced adopters. This energetic girl thrives on interaction, exercise and affection!
Sofi is very playful, and loves to chew on all sorts of toys, but thrives with hard sided toys as she tends to get overly excited and will become destructive with plush toys. She is energetic and requires regular, vigorous exercise daily to ensure she stays stimulated in her household. Sofi benefits from interactive toys, puzzle toys and mental stimulation and will highly benefit from consistent training and positive reinforcement.

Sofi finds comfort in other dogs and loves to play! She would do well in a home with another canine companion, as well as young children and cats!
Sofi loves to spend time with her people, so be prepared to have this girl snuggle right up in bed beside you, keeping you company and wanting your attention!

Sofi would thrive in a home with multiple toys and chews to keep her mind at ease, patience to gradually increase alone time to minimize separation anxiety and rewarding her calm behavior, and of course lots of exercise and play time!

If you are prepared to offer exercise, attention, and a loving environment to provide patience and training for Sofi, come meet her today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

*General Adoption Information: If you are interested in adopting an animal from our shelter, you will need to come to Fort St. John to visit the animal and process the adoption here. Due to our remote location we cannot arrange for animals to be transferred to a shelter closer to you by request.

Please note that in many of our provincial shelters renters are required to bring in copies of their strata council by-laws in order to be approved for adopting.

Please contact us at the shelter for any adoption requirements before visiting us to adopt so that you are correctly prepared to take your new family member home.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
