Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Sweet Cello is an impressionable little girl that copies the energy of the kitties around her. She especially clings to her foster sisters and is very cuddly and loving with them, especially Clara. While nervous at first, she quickly leans into petting, gives loud purrs and loves butt scritches! Cello can get suddenly spooked and will hiss and swat, but recovers quickly and usually does not scratch hard either. She`s currently living with fellow shy cats in the Cactus Cat room. This is where cuddle puddles happen quite often. Cello may need some patience and time to get acclimated to a new home, and she would definitely do best with another cat sibling to give her confidence, but we expect she will become quite a snuggly cat once she gets settled!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
