My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Springdale, AR

Meet Luna! She is an 1 year old Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix and weighs between 45-50 lbs. She isn’t spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, or on heartworm prevention. Luna is nervous around strangers and cats! She hasn’t been tested around kids. She is good with the other dogs inside of the home, but is nervous around dogs outside of the home.

Luna will try to nip, herd, and growl when the owner is playing fetch outside with her son’s female Labrador Retriever, who is an alpha female. Luna is also an alpha female and would do best with male dogs only. She was originally found as a stray who dug into their backyard to play with their 2 German Shepherds. Her previous owner was never found. The current owner is surrendering her because they are trying to find a new home for her. She needs to go ASAP!

If you think you can provide a great home for Luna, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $100 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Luna.

More about this rescue

Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.

In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 87,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.

Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.

We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.
