You looking for an adoring furry friend - and would love one that won't rouse you out of bed at daybreak? Ruth may just be for you. Ruth is a very special girl looking for her forever home. She loves sleeping in cuddled in her donut bed in her xpen, but would also love just as much sleeping in with her family in their bed. She came to us in January pregnant and was immediately sent to foster. There she gave birth to three beautiful babies who were quickly adopted. It was time for Ruth to find her forever home. Sadly, Ruth was on her way to her first adoption event when she was involved in a car accident and lost use of her left front leg. She has spent the last 6 months in foster recovering and trying to regain the use of her leg. Recently a determination was made that it would not fully recover and so her leg was amputated. Ruth however has not let that slow her down at all. Ruth is a happy go lucky dog who loves people and attention and being with her people. She can be pushy with other dogs (coming from her days in her original hoarding situation). This can lead to timid dogs feeling intimidated, and dominant dogs feeling the need to defend their space. She is potty trained (although an occasional accident may occur when routines are upended), x-pen trained, and through all the tough and painful times of her recovery has never gotten aggressive with her care takers. She has not been leash trained yet, but is looking forward to getting more walks now and learning the ropes. If you think you are ready to put in the work to add this sweet girl to your family, then put in your application today!

More about this rescue

Arizona Small Dog Rescue is a non profit registered 501(c)3 no kill rescue shelter. We are a group of volunteers who have dedicated our lives to rescuing and saving homeless, unwanted, abandoned, neglected, and abused small dogs. We save most of our animals from kill shelters around the valley, but also accept owner surrenders and stray surrenders. Owner surrender fee’s vary depending on space and availability. We spay/neuter, vaccinate, medically examine, microchip, and evaluate and/or socialize all dogs that come into our rescue before placing up for adoption to pre-screened homes. We rescue many dogs every week and always have a wide variety of personalities and breeds available who would be a perfect fit for any family and any home.
