My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shirley: The Sweet & Sassy Senior Chihuahua Shirley, a 6-pound Chihuahua, is full of personality and charm. Rescued from a Texas shelter and now in a loving foster home in Fort Collins, she’s known for her playful army crawls and loyalty to her chosen human. Nicknamed Sherlock for her sharp food-detective skills, Shirley loves being carried in her Chihuahua backpack, giving kisses, and curling up like a cat in cozy spots.

Shirley's Highlights: Loves giving kisses to her chosen human. Enjoys being carried or going on adventures in her backpack. Prefers curling up like a cat and enjoys smaller dogs or being an only dog. Ready to meet this sweet, quirky companion? Fill out an adoption application today and make Shirley your new best friend!

OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN TEXAS OR COLORADO BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information.

All of our dogs are located in a foster home in Texas or Colorado. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Mutts N Such direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc.).

Our adoption fee is $350, plus transport (varies by location) if animal needs to be transported out of state. This fee includes all current vaccinations, deworming, a registered microchip, fecal analysis, spay/neuter for pets 6 months & older, and a heartworm test if over 6 months old. All dogs will be current on flea/heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of departure for out of state adoptions.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete our application:

Note: MNS reserves the right to deny any application that is deemed unsuitable for the animal. Please be aware that our animal adoptions are NOT on a first come- first serve basis. Our sole purpose is to find the best possible home for the animals that fall under our care.

Additional adoption info

The initial phase of our adoption protocol involves prospective adopters completing an adoption application.

Following submission, our administrative team conducts a thorough review, and if approved, the application is then forwarded to the animal's foster.

Subsequently, a phone interview is scheduled to address follow-up queries, provide additional information about the pet, and acquaint the adopter with our organization. If the interview is successful, arrangements are made for a meet and greet, along with a home visit. For pets adopted out of state, the meet and greet and home visit are conducted virtually.

The final steps in our adoption process include verification of identification, finalization of the adoption contract, and payment of the adoption fee.
