My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kenai (A125943) is a 6-year-old Siberian husky who weighed nearly 50 lbs at intake!

10/26/24 Kenai, previously known as Osmond, arrived back at the shelter as a stray after his most recent owner fell on hard times and had to entrust him to some friends that did not keep him secure. Kenai has change quite a bit since he was last at the shelter. He has really embraced the pet dog life and has mellowed out some. He also seems to have mastered the art of potty training! Although we say Kenai has mellowed out, that is not saying much compared to how energetic this boy was 2 years ago! He still has lots of spunk in him, and he likes to tell you all about it. If you are interested in meeting this handsome guy, please give us a call!

02/25/22 This crazy boy is Osmond. He is very friendly and loves to jump up and say hi! Osmond has a lot of energy and can be very strong. He came in with a larger group of huskies that have only lived outside and are most likely not housebroken, so potential owners should keep this in mind if intending to make any of them pet dogs, as they will need to focus on potty training and indoor manners. Although they were raised as sled dogs, their mushing history and line behavior is unknown. Huskies are a high energy breed that will require an outlet such as skijoring, canicross, or a big yard to play in! It is unknown how any of these dogs will do with smaller animals, such as cats or pocket pets. However, huskies tend to have a high prey drive, so extreme caution should be used when introducing them to such animals. Osmond has been selective about his neighbors in the dog yard and may prefer females to males. He barks excessively at male dogs. We recommend introducing him to any new doggy companions in a well controlled environment. Due to his high energy and lack of manners, we are requiring Osmond go to a home without children under 5 if being considered for a pet home. Osmond is said to walk quite well on leash! If you are interested in meeting Osmond, or any of his husky friends, please give the shelter a call!October 31, 2024, 11:10 pm
