This helps Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue, Inc. with pet care costs.
Apricot is a handsome 1.5 year old orange and white medium hair cat. Life has not been easy for Apricot, but before we get into that, let's tell you about how amazing he is! He is very friendly and cuddly and wants to be where you are. He loves to play (even with only 3 legs). He enjoys chirping and twirling when he wants to show you how happy he is! Apricot is currently in a foster home with dogs and does great. He also would be ok with cats (with proper introductions as in his prior home he was with other cats). But an owner would have to be extremely viligant on making sure he does not eat the other cats food.
Now a little more about Apricot and how he came to us and some things an adopter should know. Apricot was first seen at one of our Emergency Vet partners with a septic hind leg covered in maggots and fleas. Had a blood transfusion and his leg removed (it was a partial amputation so a portion of the femur retained). Then he dealt with tons of GI issues after the fact and was in hospital for for close to a month dealing with GI issues. Unfortunately, after only a few days he came back to the hospital and was constipated again and was covered in fleas. At this point, Apricot's owner surrendered him to us. Apricot stayed in the hospital for another few weeks until we were able to get his GI issues under control. Apricot also had a CT scan because the doctors were concerned that maybe his amputation was causing issues in his colon (which thankfully it was not). The doctors tried literally every single GI medication/protocol and he is finally doing well. He is on the following medications which can be put right in his food (cisapride and miralax). He is on ID food which he needs to stay on.
Cats are negative for FelV/FIV, receive age-appropriate vaccines and deworming, are spayed/neutered and are microchipped.
All of our pets go home with a "Go Home Goody Bag" that includes a starter supply of food, treats, toys, and a voucher for a free month of pet insurance from Trupanion.
Location: North Haven, CT
Adoption Fee: $250
